Salimah's Kuih Bangkit have always been laced with love, care and devotion passed down from generation to generation. But when her shop was destroyed in the 1964 racial riots, Salimah found herself full of resentment and hate, and her hands did not bake like they used to.
Now, she - with the help of her family - must overcome her distrust and revive her love for baking. "Bangkit", which also means to rise, is a story of finding harmony amidst chaos, resilience, one's own willpower and the effects of love in a community.
