In The House of Straw (2009)

Over the summer break, Zhi Wen decides to move out of his parents’ house to live with two friends. He discovers that Ah Pin and Mark are professional bicycle thieves and a magical personality game they play causes them to switch identities with one another. Zhi Wen finds himself entrapped in a strange world of vice and deception.

An interpretation of The Three Little Pigs story and featuring the iconic cultural theme park Haw Par Villa, Young Artist Award recipient Yeo Siew Hua’s debut feature shows the aimless energy of youth, their rebellion trapped within the rigidity of traditional family values and social mores, through tongue-in-cheek observations and moments of symbolic grandiosity.
