Julián (2026)

Seven-year-old Julián spends the summer with his no-nonsense Dominican American grandmother Carmela in New York City, where he is introduced to his Caribbean heritage and the bustling Brooklyn community. When his new friends invite him to join them at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, Julián recruits Carmela to make him a mermaid costume. Though he eventually finds that not everyone believes in his dream to become a mermaid, Julián is determined to make waves with the help of a magical ocean spirit.
