Perfumed Nightmare (1977)

Playing himself, Kidlat Tahimik is a Filipino jeepney driver mesmerised by the promise of the American dream. Fascinated by radio stories of space exploration, Kidlat longs to visit German rocket engineer Wernher von Braun at Cape Canaveral. He believes he is finally on the path towards his imagined future when an American businessman offers him a driving job in Paris. Kidlat’s gilded vision of progress collides with reality, forcing him to confront the realities behind his long-admired dream.
