Memory of Princess Mumbi (2025)

In 2093, Kuve, a filmmaker known for his reliance on AI, journeys to Umata, a community that has rejected modern technology in the aftermath of war. Hoping to capture their story, he meets Mumbi, a local filmmaker who challenges him to work without AI. Reluctant but intrigued, Kuve begins to film using his intuition, slowly discovering the intensity and poetry of life. As time passes, the complexity of their relationship deepens into a beautiful intimacy. Ironically, while mostly shot on location, Hauser uses AI to build his world’s backdrop. But more importantly, he juggles genres and moods through the use of various film genres to emphasise the importance of capturing the lives of those we have loved.
