A Hero (2021)

Winner of the Grand Prix (Jury Prize) at Cannes 2021, Asghar Farhadi's A Hero is a gripping tale of one man's attempt to clear his name, while trying to do the right thing... or at least, that is what he believes. Farhadi is one of Iran's best-known contemporary filmmakers, who first broke through in the 2010s for his Oscar-winning dramatic films A Separation (2011) and The Salesman (2016). His latest film A Hero (2021) continues Farhadi's trademark brand of knotty thriller amidst seemingly quotidian life, and moral complexities affecting the everyday man. SYNOPSIS: Rahim is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum.
