Lajka (2017)

Inspired by Laika — the first animal to orbit Earth — this stop-motion reimagining of her story follows her journey to a mysterious, distant planet called Qem. As the Space Race unfolds, the United States sends Ham, the first great ape in space, into orbit.

On Qem, the two animals form an unlikely bond and discover a peaceful existence far from Earth. Their sanctuary is soon threatened by the arrival of human astronauts, bringing with them the same desires of conquest and destruction they had escaped from.
